Parish Social Ministry is the community outreach arm of our two parishes. Our mission is to "Love our Neighbor" in practical ways out of love for God, outlined by the perennial Catholic tradition of the "Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy." Based on the words of Christ in Matthew 25, some of these these works of mercy include:
Since we are two parishes in two different towns, the ministries at each respective parish are reflective of both the needs in that town, and the particular gifts that each parish has to offer in terms of resources and volunteers. We serve all who come to us out of need, regardless of their religious affiliation, or any other factor.
We are glad to collaborate with numerous other community organizations, both religious and secular, working alongside us in this mission. We welcome and encourage ecumenical and community engagement with our ministries, and openly invite volunteers from outside our parish community to participate.
Although we keep our expenses low by utilizing the generosity of many volunteers, we depend on the community for ongoing support which makes our work possible. We employ two part-time staff persons, maintain two buildings devoted to ministry, and provide bountiful amounts of food, fuel, clothing and other necessities to the community. We gratefully accept both volunteer help and donations to facilitate the continuation of our ministry.
