The St. Rose Thrift Store is located in the parish hall across from 1 Church St, Jay (see map below). The thrift store serves the dual purpose of community service by "Clothing the Naked," and fundraiser for the other outreach initiatives of Parish Social Ministry. All funds raised through the thrift store support Parish Social Ministry, and we depend on your support to continue our work.
The thrift store provides a budget-friendly shopping location featuring clothes, household items, and limited furniture. It also serves as a resource bank for PSM staff to draw from when we need to provide clothes or other necessities for free to someone in need, such as someone coming out of homelessness who needs to move into a new apartment but owns almost nothing. We gladly use our donated items to help those who demonstrate need.
The thrift store is open Tuesdays from Noon-4:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The entrance to the thrift store is located at the top of the ramp in the parking lot accessed from Horan St. If approaching from Route 4, turn and drive one block up the hill on Church Street, then turn left on Horan St. We accept payment by cash or credit card.
We accept donations of lightly used and clean clothes, household items, toys, and tools. We strictly accept donations only during our open hours, please respect this policy and do not leave any items at the door when the store is closed. Please do not donate items that are dirty, broken, or otherwise unsellable. For furniture donations, please contact Stephanie Crowe at the number below.
We welcome and encourage community members to volunteer in the thrift store, and are able to accommodate manageable commitments such as one shift per month. Volunteering is a wonderful way to serve the community, and enjoy a communal experience of common work alongside other dedicated volunteers. For more information or to volunteer, please call Dan Allen at 897-2173 ext. 1203 or email at daniel.allen@portlanddiocese.org.
